Basement Bashout

So it's been awhile since my last post. But I have a few good excuses.

Since Novemeber I've been busy ripping out the walls in the basement and tearing out the old bathroom. Everything is gone in the basement except for the water heaters, furnace, oil tank and toilet. Yup, I'm still going to need the trusty old toilet down there until it's time to rip out the foundation.
Working on that after work and during the weekends (on my own) took quite a while. It also took longer than I thought because I was taking the nails out of the wood studs as I went. It paid off though, because I didn't have to bring in a dumpster to truck all the demolition debris away. I posted an ad on Kijiji and shortly later someone came by with 2 guys and a pickup truck to take all of the wood away for firewood. Also, thanks to Kijiji, I was also able to get rid of the old washer and dryer (which still worked) and some old shelves and a cabinet. It amazes me what people will take for free, but the bonus is that all of this stuff stayed out of the landfill and someone else was able to get some use out of the things I didn't want anymore.

I've also been busy working on floor plans for the new house. Smithy and I have gone through a view revisions with a guy from work who has been drawing different options in AutoCAD. I will post some scans of the floor plans soon so you can see how things are evolving.

I hope to have the floor plans finished by mid-February. Then I will be ready to submit my drawings to the city for the development permit. Once the development permit goes through I will be able to go and get quotes for the work.

PS - All of those photos were taken with my iPhone 4 and stitched together with a great little app called AutoStitch.
